Le Test d’Évaluation de Français Canada (TEF Canada)

The Test d’Évaluation de Français Canada is a general French test, which measures the level of knowledge and competencies in French oral comprehension and in oral expression. The TEF Canada is recognized by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

It is the candidate's responsibility to select all modules that they require.

The official TEF Canada Attestation shows the distribution of scores for each module taken along with detailed comments for the different competencies.

Details

The e-TEF Canada, used to assess your oral and written competencies in French, consists of the following 4 modules.

Compréhension orale (Listening)

(CO) 40 min – 60 questions – 360 points
This portion of the test has 60 questions and is multiple choice.  The listening exercises reflect real-life situations (conversations, public announcements, extracts from radio programs...).

Expression orale (Speaking)

(EO) 15 min – 2 parts – 450 points

The oral expression portion of this test is presented as a role-play that demonstrates the know-how and expertise in real-life situations. Candidates must obtain pertinent information by reading short excerpts from examples of advertising, letters or public notices.  Using this information, candidates must convince their interlocutor (the examiner).

  • Section A : gather information, ask questions
  • Section B : present a document, argue to convince, assess and compare

Fee: $130.00

Compréhension écrite (Reading)

(CE) 60 min – 50 questions – 300 points

The written comprehension portion of the exam comprises of 4 sections for a total of 50 questions.
Fee: $80.00

Expression écrite (Writing)

(EE) 60 min – 2 subjects – 450 points
The written expression portion of the test has 2 sections / 2 exercises.
Fee: $80.00

  • ARRIVE a minimum of 15 minutes before the scheduled exam or you will not be permitted to take the test and there is no refund possible.
